Counting down to the weekend can be brutal… but not when you live in Brooklyn, surrounded by vibrant youth (and lots of booze)… the party starts on Thursday! Here are your top 6 options for music this weekend, starting NOW!

#6 Aputumpu Festival / Saul Wiliams, Osekre & The Lucky Bastards, Patrice, more @ Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St, FRI 8PM, $25 adv, $30 door)

We already recommended this awesome event in our Fall Festival Roundup, and are giving it another star of recommendation right here and now!

#5 CayetanaChumped, Albondigas, Spirit of the Beehive @ Saint Vitus (1120 Manhattan Ave. SAT 9PM, $10)

If you want to get out of the neighborhood, truck it up to Greenpoint’s legendary punk and hardcore venue where you can catch up-and-comers Cayetana’s upbeat (yet lofi) emo-tinged, indie-heavy rock set live.

#4 Bushwick Variety Show @ Goodbye Blue Monday (1087 Broadway, Sun 9PM, $7 suggested)

Join the party for a fun-filled night of music, burlesque and variety! Hosted by the Lovely Ms. Bronze Bettina, and featuring Rasa Vitalia, Dick Jones, and others.

It’s a gigawatts bash at Palisades this Friday with a bunch of our fave local bands!

#2 Sensations’ Fix w/ Gavin Russom (DFA / LIVE) @ Body Actualized Center (143 Troutman St, THURS 9PM, $10 online, $12 door)

The first musician to ever purchase a MiniMoog, cosmonaut Falsini spearheaded “Italian Progressive Rock” band Sensations’ Fix in the early 1970s. He has been the Body Actualized’s artist-in-residence this month and will top it off with his first performance since 1981 (accompanied by DFA artist Davin Russom) TONITE!

#1 Broke City 3 Year Anniversary Party @ Bizarre (12 Jefferson St, FRI 10PM, $FREE)

Time to get down and celebrate uber cool DJ and art collective Broke City’s third anniversary. As always the party is free and you can catch sets from Braille, James Mulry, HXDB, Sinclair & more.
