Our Commitment
Bushwick Daily is committed to accuracy in all of our reporting. Despite our best efforts, errors occasionally occur. When they do, we correct them promptly and transparently.
We believe that how we handle mistakes is as important as avoiding them. Transparent corrections maintain trust with our readers and uphold our journalistic standards.

- The article URL or headline
- The specific error
- Correct information and source (if available)
How We Handle Corrections
Level 1: Minor Corrections
Examples: Typos, misspellings, incorrect ages or titles, broken links, photo captions.
How we handle them: The error is corrected in the article. The article’s “last updated” date is changed to reflect the modification. A correction notice is not typically appended for minor errors that do not affect the substance of the story.
Level 2: Significant Corrections
Examples: Factual errors that affect the meaning of the story, misattributed quotes, incorrect dates of events, erroneous statistics or data.
How we handle them:
- The error is corrected in the article text
- A correction notice is added at the bottom of the article stating what was wrong and what is correct
- The correction notice includes the date of the correction
- The original publication date is preserved
Correction notice format:
Correction: An earlier version of this article stated [incorrect information]. In fact, [correct information]. This article has been updated. [Date]
Level 3: Major Errors & Retractions
Examples: Stories based on false information, fabricated sources, fundamental misrepresentation of events.
How we handle them:
- A prominent editor’s note is added at the top of the article
- In extreme cases, the article may be removed from publication
- A separate article explaining the retraction may be published
- The retraction is added to our corrections log below
Updates vs. Corrections
Not all changes to articles are corrections:
- Updates: When new information becomes available after publication (such as developments in an ongoing story), we update the article and add an “Updated” notice at the top indicating what new information was added.
- Clarifications: When original wording was accurate but could be misunderstood, we may add clarifying language. This is noted as a clarification, not a correction.
- Corrections: When we published something that was incorrect at the time of publication, we issue a correction.
