A Bushwick man who fatally shot his girlfriend inside his apartment nearly 18 months ago will be serving a long time in prison.

Bryan Gonzalez, 36, plead guilty earlier this month to a first-degree manslaughter charge for killing Tanya Collazo, 33, while they were hanging out in his home on Suydam Street near Knickerbocker Avenue on the morning of Aug. 22, 2015.

According to Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Bryan Gonzalez also plead guilty this month to first-degree drug possession charges after cops found heroin and cocaine in his residence while responding to the shooting.

Bryan Gonzalez was ordered on Friday, March 17, to serve concurrent prison terms of 20 years for the manslaughter charge and 12 years for the narcotics possession charge. He will also face five years of probation.

Prosecutors said Bryan Gonzalez joined Collazo as she hung out with family and friends just after midnight on Aug. 22, 2015. They left together at around 5 a.m. and went to his apartment, where the shooting took place shortly thereafter.

Gonzalez walked into a nearby deli at 7:30 a.m. that morning and asked an employee to call police, stating that he shot his girlfriend. Officers from the 83rd Precinct responded to Gonzalez’s home and found Collazo in the bedroom with a gunshot wound to her face.

Law enforcement sources said Gonzalez told detectives that he shot Collazo accidentally with a .40-caliber pistol recovered from the hallway outside the bedroom.

During their investigation, police recovered from the home over eight ounces of heroin and a half-ounce of cocaine, as well as assorted drug paraphernalia.
