Last year, we wrote about Michael Tisch, of the billionaire family that owns the New York Giants, preparing to buy Roberta’s and continue its expansion. Now, Eater NY reports that the sale has been scrapped.

This is not the first time Roberta’s has been in the news for financial intrigue, buyout rumors, and legal disputes. The owners settled a lawsuit in December 2016 for unpaid overtime wages to former and current employees although they have not admitted any wrongdoing.

It is difficult to keep track of all of the intrigue, but basically the owners are busy arguing about whether or not Roberta’s should expand into the empire it could be with one-third of the trio, Chris Parachini, at odds with the other two-thirds, Brandon Hoy and Carlo Mirarchi.

The pizza is still delicious, the celebrities keep pouring in, but amid possible cash flow problem rumors, it is easy to imagine a future in which we can no longer douse our perfectly doughy pies in spicy chili oil.

We reached out to Roberta’s for comment and will update the piece if we hear back.
