El Cafecito, the cheery and welcoming coffee shop at 892 Wyckoff Ave, closed their doors due to defaulting on their rent. A sign posted to the closed cafe read as a three day notice to the owner, Lorena Moscoso.

The notice, dated December 8th, reads that Moscoso is indebted over $5,014.01 and is required to pay the sum by Monday the 14th. If not paid, the owners must surrender the possession of the premise to the landlord.

El Cafecito off the Halsey Stop in Bushwick Is Closed

This comes as a shock to all who frequented the cafe, including this writer. Opened in May 2014 off the Halsey stop, El Cafecito was known as a friendly spot for a great cup of coffee, fresh pressed juice or a build-your-own sandwich. With plenty of tables and outlets, this was the place to spend an afternoon working or just enjoying the day. More importantly, the kindness and graciousness of the owners made you feel completely at home. We’re sad to see you go, El Cafecito.

We requested a comment from the owners but did not receive a response.
