We kicked Best of Bushwick 2018 off this past January by rehashing a topic from the same time last year: chicken wings.

Since then, we’ve (rather accidentally) alternated between trying out new categories and crowning new winners to reader-favorite topics. This time, we want to crown a new winner for a category we had last year.

So let’s talk about pizza!

I can say with confidence that never in my life have I met a person who does not enjoy pizza. Sure, I’ve known people who aren’t obsessed with it, and I’ve met the occasional grease-dabber; but by and large, pizza is universally beloved.

And what’s not to love? Carbo-loaded dough, hot-as-the-surface-of-the-sun melty cheese, topping options for days. No matter how you slice it, pizza is an ideal food for so many occasions: lunch on your cheat day; easy dinner when your evening time is limited; pleasing the crowd at a get-together, planned or spontaneous.

You simply can’t lose with pizza.

It’s no secret that New York City makes the best pizza in the country, but who makes the best pizza in our little corner of the city, the Bushwick-East Williamsburg-Ridgewood area? Last year, Tony’s Pizzeria & Restaurant at 443 Knickerbocker Ave. (not to be confused with another Tony’s Pizza just down the street) took home the title. Will they hold onto the crown or be dethroned?

No qualifiers this time around: If it’s a spot that’s got at least one pizza offering, it’s fair game. Neighborhood joint? Nominate it! Fancy pies? Nominate it! Bar that heats frozen pizzas and sells them for a 500-percent markup? Nominate it if you really want to, I guess.

So, Bushwick — who serves up the best slice in the neighborhood? Slide your nominations off your pizza peels into the comments and let us know!

Nominations will close on Thursday, April 5 at 11:59 pm.
