Don’t you know it: it’s time for our weekly events round-up!

This weekend, you can check out a killer comedy show called “Highwaisted” at Crystal Lake, laugh at a different comedy event that’s being put on by Pure Chaos, enjoy beats and brews at Bridge and Tunnel Brewery’s DJ night, a range of performances happening at Unit J and a volunteer at a cleanup that’s happening on Grand Street.

Highwaisted!

What is it?

On Thursday night, this Grand Street spot hosts Alex Kumin and Julia Shiplett as they run a standup comedy show that features Jermaine Fowler, Casey James Salengo, Maddie Wiener, Joyelle Nicole Johnson and Richard Perez.

8 p.m.

How much is it?

Tickets can be purchased in advance online for $12 and at the door for $15.

Pure Chaos Presents: “Rated X: A Movie Commentary Comedy Show”!

What is it?

What could be better than laughter, a cold cocktail, and a slice of Bootsie’s Pizza? The newly-opened No Aloha is putting on a comedy show called Pure Chaos, which is hosted by a trio of local comedians named Breck Gordon, Taylor Horne and Chris Metcalfe – the latter is host of a podcast called “The Dunce Caps.”

Where is it?

No Aloha, 17 Ingraham Street 

When is it?

Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m.

How much is it?

$5 cover. 


Friday, May 20

It’s Kraft House at Bridge and Tunnel! 

What is it?

A night of beats, featuring names like DJ KnoGood, Big Red and Chuchainz, spinning at a small brewery in Ridgewood.

Where is it?

Bridge and Tunnel Brewery, 1535 Decatur St. 

When is it?

9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

How much is it?

No cover. 

Live At Unit J: Unit J-AZZ & Bohemia After Dark!

What is it?

It’s a night of performances at this Bushwick DIY club, which features a bar stocked with cocktails, vegan food, tarot and pre-rolls. 

Where is it?

Unit J, 338 Moffat Street.

When is it?

Doors open at 8 p.m., performances start at 9 p.m. and an open jazz jam kicks off from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m.

How much is it?

A minimum of $10 is suggested as a donation. 


Saturday, May 21

It’s Spring Cleanup Day On Grand Street!

What is it?

The Grand Street Business Improvement District is trying to coordinate a volunteer clean up, along with another group called North Brooklyn Neighbors. They’re trying to get people to pick up trash and clean up tree pits. According to the posters, they’re giving away t-shirts.

Where is it?

Meet-up takes place on the corner of Manhattan Avenue and Grand Street.

When is it?

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

How much is it?

Free to register

Tree Care, Cleanup & Singalong!

What is it?

Two local groups called Repair the World Brooklyn and Clean Bushwick Initiative are running something called a street tree care workshop that will feature some performances by Ridgewood eco-rapper Hila the Killa.

3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
