Pink Fang, the theater company built around the work of director and artist Ping Chong, has launched a redesigned website that it presents as a showcase for 50 years of what the company calls transformative theater, according to a publicity announcement distributed on behalf of the organization.
The announcement, sent Feb. 1 through the public-relations service Cision, said the new site is intended both to activate the Ping Chong archive and to support the company’s ongoing creation of new work. Beyond that framing, the notice offered no further detail about the redesign, the contents of the archive being made available or any associated programming.
The company is the successor to Ping Chong and Company, the long-running New York ensemble founded by Chong, whose decades of interdisciplinary productions have combined theater, puppetry, media and documentary-style oral history. The publicity material tied the website relaunch to that body of work, citing roughly half a century of activity, but did not specify dates, venues or a launch event in the version circulated to news outlets.
No spokesperson was quoted in the announcement, and the notice did not include a link to the redesigned site or contact information beyond the sender. The organization said the relaunch is meant to make the archive more accessible while the company continues producing new productions, according to the announcement.
