LEIMAY is giving artists free rehearsal time at its Williamsburg space, and it will keep doing so until it hands out 1,000 hours.
The Leimay Studio Access program provides free rehearsal time in the Community Studio at CAVE, the organization’s home at 58 Grand Street, to artists who need a place to work. That description comes from Leimay Resource Sharing, which circulated the notice in a June newsletter from The Bushwick Starr.
The booking request window opened on June 11, 2026. Requests are processed on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability, until the program reaches 1,000 hours. The rehearsal cycle itself starts August 1 and runs through September 30. The overall program period listed in the announcement runs June 11 through October 10, 2026.
The announcement does not say how many of those 1,000 hours a single artist can claim.
The announcement did not spell out eligibility rules for artists, and it did not include the criteria used to approve a booking request. Bushwick Daily has not independently confirmed how many hours remain.
The notice reached readers through The Bushwick Starr’s newsletter, in a section the Bushwick theater uses to pass along offers from other arts organizations. That same email carried the Starr’s own June push for its Education and Community programs, a campaign that hit its $25,000 goal by the end of the month, covering teaching artist salaries, classroom supplies and field trips.
Other Brooklyn arts organizations have offered free workspace this summer. Six New York City artists recently landed a free DUMBO studio for eleven months, with a stipend and equipment access attached.
