Chelsea Gallery, Koenig & Clinton, Is Moving to Bushwick This Summer
The cutting-edge gallery announced they'll be moving from Chelsea to Willoughby Avenue this June.
Earlier this week, art gallery Koenig & Clinton announced that they would be moving their operations from West 19th Street in Chelsea, to Bushwick's Willoughby Avenue this June.
After 17 years at its Chelsea location, the gallery announced the move via the Koenig & Clinton Instagram page on Sunday. The post read "...The creative communities that have long been associated with lower Manhattan have dispersed significantly. Artists and their environments have skillfully adapted to neighborhoods uptown and in the outer boroughs."
After the Manhattan location's exhibitions wrap up in May, the owner, Leo Koenig and director, Maraget Liu Clinton, are planning to open the new location with new features in conjunction with their exhibitions, including a project space called Century Pictures.
This isn't Koenig's first Brooklyn gallery. According to ArtNews, in 1999 he opened a storefront artspace in Williamsburg when he was in his twenties.
Koenig & Clinton's new location, 1329 Willoughby Ave., will share a space and address with Bushwick's beloved Microscope gallery.
We're excited to see what awesome exhibitions Koenig & Clinton debut in the neighborhood!
