Has it been your lifelong dream to hang at a motorcycle garage while listening to bands, drinking beer and eating some damn awesome BBQ? Well, even if you’re not a motorcycle lover, we’ve got some pretty awesome news for you.  The Shop Brooklyn (234 Starr St, corner Wyckoff Ave), which has been teasing us since 2013 is finally almost ready to open.

“We are just finishing up some last construction items this month and prepping to announce a grand opening date,” told us Dan Lyle, the owner of The Shop Brooklyn.

And while the final touches are being done, The Shop has been hosting a barbecue tasting series every Saturday this month from 4PM to 7PM. Focused on a specific portion of their menu each week, the tasting series will peak on Saturday, March 28, during which the chef/owner Dan will be cooking a heritage large black hog and serving it with Black Hog Brewing beers.

Each tasting event features various brewing and spirit companies who pair drinks with food items, and the patrons have an opportunity to give The Shop feedback on the food before the grand opening.

Despite, calling their event, “a little tasting,”  The Shop was totally packed this past Saturday. 5,000 sq feet of a converted warehouse that The Shop now proudly calls home was filled with curious Bushwick residents as well as a bunch of bridge-and-tunnelers (sorry, Manhattanites!) who were enjoying their tasting plates of pork & beef sandwiches, beers as well as occasionally rotating plates of sausages. Mandatory cowboy hats, motorcycles casually parked in front of the music stage, the atmosphere at The Shop was quite festive and pretty excited.

The Shop whose original location on Metropolitan Ave and Roebling St. in Williamsburg closed in 2012 has definitely stepped up their game in Bushwick. They have created pretty authentic yet modern atmosphere of “old juke and rock joints” from the South. And while their bar is extremely long, motorcycles are pretty badass, the most important element this Saturday was meat, and we’re happy to confirm that these guys truly know what they’re doing!

Tasting plate of beef & pork sandwich (we arrived too late for beans) was killer. We particularly enjoyed the beef (on the right), which was delicately seasoned, soft and dreamy.

“It was nice to meet some of our close neighbors, let them take a look around and taste some of the goods,” told us Dan, and we can’t wait for grand opening of The Shop of Brooklyn in April.
