The New York City Council has approved a $2 million investment to modernize the neonatal intensive care unit at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, bringing upgraded facilities and improved care for newborns to families in Bushwick, Ridgewood, and surrounding neighborhoods.
The funding, approved during the Council’s recent budget session, will allow the hospital at 374 Stockholm Street to upgrade equipment and facilities in its NICU, which serves some of the city’s most vulnerable patients—premature and critically ill newborns.
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center sits at the border of Brooklyn and Queens, serving a diverse community that includes parts of Bushwick, Ridgewood, Glendale, and East New York. The hospital has been a cornerstone of healthcare in the area for decades, providing emergency care, maternal services, and specialized pediatric treatment to families who might otherwise face lengthy travels to larger medical centers in Manhattan.
The NICU modernization comes at a time when healthcare access remains a critical concern for working-class families in the area.
