One person died and another was critically injured when a construction wall collapsed at a Bushwick job site Thursday morning, according to the NYC Press Office.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Bushwick Avenue near Flushing Avenue. FDNY and NYPD responded to the scene immediately after the collapse.

The Department of Buildings is investigating the cause of the wall collapse. The victims’ identities have not been released pending family notification.

Construction activity at the site has been suspended pending the investigation, according to the press release.

The incident marks a tragic start to Thursday morning for the Bushwick community, with emergency responders working to secure the scene and determine what led to the structural failure.

Both FDNY and NYPD units remain on scene as the investigation continues. Additional details are expected as the Department of Buildings completes its preliminary assessment of the site.
