Kubuś Photo Service, a photo shop in Greenpoint, is in danger of closing, according to the neighborhood outlet Greenpointers, which profiled the business in its July 4 newsletter as one of two local shops that “could use your support.”
Greenpointers grouped Kubuś with Chasing Tailor, a tailoring shop run by a couple who recently lost their apartment in a fire. Chasing Tailor has served the neighborhood for more than 30 years.
The newsletter did not specify why Kubuś is at risk. It did not say whether the threat is a rent increase, a lease expiration, or another cause, or whether there is a deadline. The outlet directed readers to its full profile of the shop for more information.
The item ran in a roundup that also covered a McCarren Park softball field renamed for the late Ronnie Ortiz Jr., the Leonard Library in Williamsburg closing again for a two-year renovation after reopening just last year, and a massive Greenpoint fire that injured several firefighters, per Greenpointers.
