A family-owned boutique hotel in Williamsburg has landed on Time Out’s roundup of the best hotels in the neighborhood, according to the Brooklyn Downtown Star, which reported that 42 Hotel was named one of the publication’s Top 8 Hotels in Williamsburg.
Time Out published its Williamsburg hotel guide on June 12, a list that also includes bigger, better-known names like The William Vale, The Hoxton and Moxy Williamsburg. The 42 Hotel is the smaller, locally rooted entry in that company. It opened in 2022 near the neighborhood’s waterfront parks, restaurants and music venues, two subway stops from Manhattan.
The hotel is owned by Nik Patel and Harsh Patel, and its name carries the family history. “42” refers to the 42 villages of Gujarat, India, where the Patel family’s roots began. The property bills itself as family-owned and built, in its own words, “for travelers who want New York at their own pace.”

We look forward to welcoming travelers from around the world and sharing everything that makes Williamsburg such a special destination.”
The design is a selling point. The building was conceptualized by architect Lucas Lee and the interiors were done with the firm Lemay_id, led by designer Andres Escobar. The result leans on exposed concrete, warm textures, dramatic lighting and loft-style spaces, a nod to Williamsburg’s industrial past dressed up for a contemporary guest.
Downstairs sits Blackbird Restaurant & Bar, the hotel’s in-house gastropub. Blackbird serves breakfast, weekend brunch, evening bites and cocktails, and pitches itself to locals as much as to guests, with live music on the calendar.
The hotel is also running a few booking deals: an Air + Stay Package that bundles flights and a room into one reservation, a Midweek Moments promotion for Monday-through-Thursday stays, and a Stay Longer, Save More offer that takes 20 percent off three consecutive nights.
