Cops are still on the lookout for the man who broke into a Ridgewood apartment last week near an intersection where a large mobile police unit, which had been stationed for several months, recently left. Â Â Â Â
On Nov. 11 around 7:30 a.m., the man entered a residential building near Seneca and Gates Avenue where he kicked open an apartment door on the second floor. Once inside, the suspect encountered a 9-year-old girl and tried to put his hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming, according to police. Â
The suspect then fled the location empty handed and there were no reported injuries in this incident.
The break-in occurred near the Seneca and Gates Avenue intersection where a large mobile unit from the 104th precinct had been stationed to “increase presence in the neighborhood,” police said. The unit left the post just a few weeks ago.Â
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male who was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477)
