Sochi Olympic Rings Failure

So, the Olympics are over, with the USA ranking 4th in over all medals, but first in Gold medal pranks with another gem from Jimmy Kimmel. So it is time to party in good ol’ US of A. We have a marathon of tiny shows with big bands and gold-coated sounds this weekend. Stock up on Gatorade and let’s get to it.

#7 Pypy, MaicaMia (Members of God Speed You! Black Emperor ), The Dreebs, Cyanide Tooth @ Death By Audio (THU 7PM)

MaicaMia

This show mixes old with new, young with younger, and most importantly brings some noise.  The Dreebs and their racket give a good mind exploration of sounds. Maica Mia is the band to watch in 2014, as they explore where God Speed You! Black Emperor doesn’t as their haunting music will show you.

#6 Showpaper Benefit with Lazyeyes, Grand Resourt, Bellows, Idiot Son @ Shea Stadium (THU 9PM $10)

Another excellent lineup to benefit our fave show handout, the bi-weekly all-ages indie-as-f*ck Showpaper, features a bunch of well-known nabe bands and few a few newcomers, too! Get on our and support, all the while hearing rocking tunes and drinking $3 PBR.

#5 Body Language, JoywaveThe Echo Friendly, Jamaican Queens @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar (FRI 6PM, FREE )

body language

Body Language is gearing up for a big 2014. Big album, big team behind them, and they are ready with a slew of great performances no the horizon. This is a hometown hero not to miss. Paired up is the great post-punk sound of  The Echo Friendly, and Jamaican Queens was a highlight of CMJ. This line up at Brooklyn Night Bazaar has me warm and fuzzy on the inside.

#4 Mayer Hawthorne, Quadron @ Warsaw (FRI 8PM, doors at 7PM, $25 )

Quadron

Mayer Hawthorne‘s original music harks back to old blue eyed soul. He has toured much bigger rooms, so being at Warsaw is a rare appearance. Quadron is a Danish duo that perfectly complements Mayer.

#3 Vivian Girls, Waxahatchee, Juan Waters (of the Beets) @ Death By Audio (SAT 8PM, $10 )

vivian girls

Vivian Girls are no more, so this show is their last dance. Kudos to them making it at DBA to keep it real. They are supported by the gorgeous Waxahatchee, so this is keeping in line with some good chicks who rock. Get there early, Juan Wauters is rounding out this line up so capacity is gonna be reached due to severe #FOMO

#2 Hospitality, Air Waves, ARMS @ Music Hall of Williamsburg (SAT 8PM, $15 )

Hospitality has been pounding the tour pavement, and it shows in their live show, full of super feel good dance music.  Air Waves live will also be a blast, especially since their music appeared on Girls, they’ll have the teeny boppers wil’ing out. My personal favorite ARMS from Paper Garden Records darling is finishing this night out with some slick, sexy rock’n’roll.

#1 Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton Tour to support the theatrical release of the same name, featuring: Peanut Butter Wolf, J.Rocc, Jonwayne  @ Music Hall of Williamsburg (SUN 8PM, $18 )

our vinyl weighs a ton
