This week’s Listening Party focuses on Denver and Bushwick-based electro act Pictureplane. Listening party is a curated weekly column promoting music discovery and encouraging concert-going. Bushwick Daily features artists that we jam out to and recommend to the masses. Each Listening Party artist has an upcoming show at a local NYC venue. Grab your headphones and read on.
WHO: Bushwick-based electronic producer Travis Egedy
WE SAY: A unique take on electro grooves
FROM: Denver, CO
LABELS: Lovepump United Records
RECENT WORK: 2011’s Thee Physical
Travis Egedy has been producing boundary-pushing electro music as Pictureplane since 2008. He’s known for both his albums and his remixes of artists in the same vein, notably HEALTH and Crystal Castles. Synth-soaked vocals, glitchy hand claps and rushing cymbal taps help push the electro beats and bass forward. Pictureplane has been an ongoing project despite the fact that the most recent album, Thee Physical, dropped back in 2011. We don’t care if you don’t care – let’s ride that rainbow electro wave. See Pictureplane’s fantastic live set (we previously raved about his performance at the Out In The Streets Festival) next Tuesday at 285 Kent. 8-bit act Infinity Shred will be opening the show, so come dance your ass off before activating hibernation mode for the winter.
