Guys, I don’t know how about you but I am a total sucker for roller skating. I mean sure, roller blading is cool but roller skating is its older, sexier, classier brother. So you can imagine that I was pretty stoked when I heard that there will be a roller skating rink popping up at Brooklyn Fire Proof on Saturday, August 10. I am sure you are too! Let’s take a look at what else is going down at Mind, Body & Roll event…

Adriana Echandi emailed about her alternative health and music event with a pretty original concept. “It’s going to support local businesses, nonprofits and promote health and wellness in a totally new way,” she said in her email. The day at Brooklyn Fire Proof will start at 3PM and, in addition to the much celebrated pop-up roller skating rink, it will feature a bunch of carefully curated talks and workshops. You can bring your own skates (BYOS) or you can rent a pair from SkateTruckNYC. Event highlights include the Gaga dance movement workshop, lotsa food from a special outdoor grill with Kimchi Burger and Hotdogs by Mama O’s, and raw juice mixers and Enlightened Elixirs by Brooklyn Kombucha.

The event promises some really awesome music and plenty of dancing. During the day you can expect classic disco (Perfect for roller skating!) and, as the night quietly lands on Bushwick, you can look forward to some underground house and techno with headliners Soup Crew NYC and local Bushwick duo Up Above.

There also will be a raffle to support Ecostation who run the Bushwick Farmers Market and have amazing outreach programs involving food justice and urban agriculture that especially help out the Latinos in the community. You will be able to Vitamix blender, roller skates and much more!

And more good news – the event is free during the day with suggested donation. Venue is 21+ after 8pm with $10 cover. Free before 11pm with RSVP to [email protected]. Facebook event is here.
