Ridgewood rejoice! The beloved outdoor dance party venue Nowadays is back in action for the summer season.
After gloomy weather put Nowadays’ Mister Saturday Night festivities on hold, Mister Sunday’s Mother’s Day dance party kicked off without a hitch—except for a few scattered showers.
Although Nowadays has been a fixture of the neighborhood’s summer scene for a while, the venue’s owners, Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin, are especially excited to add new features to Nowadays’ events line-up, including a more kid-friendly outdoor series and barbecues with Bushwick fave Arrogant Swine.
“I’m really excited about the Saturday Cookouts we’re doing every weekend,” said Carter. “[Arrogant Swine’s] barbecue is just as good as the stuff I grew up on in North Carolina, and it’s so cool that we’ve got them in there doing a pig roast every week. I’ve got a one-and-a-half-year-old, and my wife and I already have plans to be there with friends for the next five Saturdays to hang out there and let the kid run free. Luckily, we’ve got a ping pong tourney happening on Saturdays, too. Will help me work off the ‘cue.”
Later this summer, thanks to a very successful kickstarter campaign, Nowadays will be debuting their first ever indoor space, complete with nearly 5,000 square feet of dance floor and communal dining, to keep the outdoorsy Nowadays vibes rolling all year long.
