“The days of gratuitous boobie calenders are behind us. The time has come for chest hair and unbridled masculinity,” reads the invitation to the unveiling of The Babes of Bushwick calendar to be held tonight, November 3, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm at The Bodega. “All models are locally sources,” the invitation concludes what promises to be a night of hot Bushwick men and great photography.
Photographer “Michelle Ma was tired of seeing women objectified in the Sports Illustrated calendars and this project was to flip that idea to put men in a similar place,” explained Mitch Dean who bartends are The Bodega and who also modelled for The Bushwick Babes calendar. “Michelle’s work will feature various Bushwick boys… Many familiar faces from the bars and coffee shops around the neighborhood,” Mitch continued.
Popular wine and beer bar at the corner of Troutman St and St. Nicholas Ave has been featuring works local artists for a long time now. Tonight they will open an exhibition to preview Michelle Ma’s calendar alongside with the works by crocheting bomber London Kaye, as well as Bushwick landscape photography of Nick Pierce who is the photographer for fashion blogger Adam Gallagher.
