It’s time for our weekly events round-up!

This week the rescheduled launch of the Bushwood Bar Babes calendar happens at Our Wicked Lady, a virtual business conference is happening that’s geared toward Black-owned businesses, a benefit show for veterans is playing at Ridgewood’s Bridge and Tunnel Brewery, as is the opening party for the new location of Superior Elevation Records, House of Yes’ Afrobeat party is celebrating its 20th anniversary, there’s an online Black History Month mental health awareness workshop and a comedy show is raising money for Hungry Monk Rescue Truck, a group that provides food for those who need it.

Bushwood Bar Babes 2022 Launch Party

What is it?

Rescheduled from earlier this month, come party with the Bar Babes of Bushwick & Ridgewood of 2022 (and 2023)! Sponsored by Tanteo Tequila, the event features special guest babe DJs and exclusive behind the scenes footage. Calendars will be available for purchase with proceeds going to the “bar babes” of 101 Wilson Bar, The Bonus Room, The Broadway, The Deep End, Echo Bravo, Our Wicked Lady, Father Knows Best, Footlight Presents, Windjammer, Flying Fox Tavern, Heaven or Las Vegas, Jade, Old Timers, Party On and Pine Box Rock Shop.

Power Forward: Black Business Conference 

What is it?

Co-hosted by BOC Women’s Business Center and Brooklyn Women’s Business Center at the LDCENY, this four-hour conference caters to Black business owners and offering them the opportunity to develop professional strategies and get some expert advice. Better yet: ten selected businesses will compete for up to $1,500 in a 60-second “Elevator Pitch Competition” during the conference.

Saturday, February 19

Music for Veterans: “Peace Through Music”

What is it?

A fundraiser show run by a group called Music for Veterans that features a lineup including Idol Existence, Crazy Eddie and Dead Blow Hammer, plus a new beer release from a Ridgewood brewery.

Bridge and Tunnel Brewery, 1535 Decatur Street.

When is it?

7 p.m.

Free admission. 

Superior Elevation Grand Opening Party

What is it?

Celebrate the opening of Superior Elevation’s new location with a line up of special guest performers and pizza and wine.

Jump N Funk 20th Anniversary Party

What is it?

Dance to the heat of Afrobeat! An event called “JUMP N FUNK,” which calls itself “America’s Original Afrobeat Party,” celebrates its 20th anniversary at the House of Yes, which will also fundraise for a group called the Black Burner Project, which has been documenting people of color who attend Burning Man events through photography and personal interviews since 2018. Black History Month Mental Health Awareness Workshop

What is it?

Affiliated with RiseBoro, it’s a workshop that focuses on teaching people of all ages about mental health, awareness, racial equity, self advocacy and Black history.

Baphta Blowout Bonanza 

What is it?

An artist named Baphta is hosting a comedy show with at least 20 Brooklyn comedians to raise money for a local group called the Hungry Monk Rescue Truck.
