Andrew Keenan-Bolger, a New York City native and Broadway actor, has published his debut young adult novel, “Limelight,” and marked its release with a pair of local appearances, according to a media advisory from his publisher, Penguin Random House.

The advisory said the first event was a book launch on Tuesday, February 24, at 7 p.m., hosted by The Strand Book Store in the third-floor Rare Book Room at 828 Broadway, on 12th Street. Keenan-Bolger was joined by Jenn Colella, with a special performance by Kyle Ramar Freeman and Callum Francis, according to the publisher.

A second appearance, billed as a New 42 Book Talk, was scheduled for Monday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the New Victory Theater, 229 W. 42nd St., the advisory said. The publisher said that event paired Keenan-Bolger with Celia Keenan-Bolger and that additional performances were to be announced.

Penguin Random House described “Limelight” as a queer coming-of-age story set in the world of musical theater. The advisory cited a review from Kirkus Reviews, which called the book “a vivid queer Broadway celebration with a classic feeling” and said “musical theater fans will devour this story of finding your ‘corner of the sky.'”

School Library Journal, in a review quoted by the publisher, called the novel “a powerful coming-of-age story” and said fans of Malinda Lo’s “Late Night at the Telegraph Club” and John Green and David Levithan’s “Will Grayson, Will Grayson” would enjoy the book, which it described as being about “theater, drag, and coming to terms with one’s identity.”

The publisher said review copies and interviews were available on request, and that press materials had been posted online.
