It turns out “Bushwick Beats” isn’t just the name of a designer ad campaign for Vince Camuto. Now, it is also the title of a movie that will be Bushwick’s own “Paris, je t’aime.”
Variety reports that six up and coming filmmakers—Anu Valia, Sonejuhi Sinha, Brian Shoaf, Susan Soon He Stanton, Sayeeda Moreno, James Sweeney, and Chloe Sarbib—will come together to produce a series of short films all exploring the theme of love and released as one unified project.
The film’s IMDb synopsis reads as follows: “Six stories, six directors, six unique short films, all under the backdrop of Bushwick, Brooklyn, each a different look into the theme of unconditional love.”
The six filmmakers have been recognized for their previous work for the stage and screen. Their earlier efforts have premiered at all of the big festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, Cannes, and SXSW. And the producers have also had a hand in indie hits of previous decade: Big Green (“Sticky Notes” and “Ghost Team”); Julie Christeas (“WildLike” and “Blood Stripe”); and Circle of Confusion (“The Walking Dead” and “American Ultra”).
The film will shoot in the neighborhood over the next three weeks and is scheduled to wrap July 30 with an estimated 2018 release date.
