It is true! The big, awesome, sixth (!!) Bushwick Film Festival  kicked off last night and continues throughout the entire weekend. This year, the festival takes place at Light Space Studios at 1115 Flushing Ave, and you can buy a festival pass for $75 or tickets to individual events for $10. What else can you look forward to besides great short and feature films? Friday

We Will Riot + The Opening Party Night (7:45PM-2AM, $10)

Friday night will officially commence with a screening of We Will Riot, a film about an up-and-coming DJ from an affluent New York family who decides to track his roots in Vilnius, Lithuania. The cast and the crew will party with you after the premiere at Light Space Studios until the late night/early morning. Look forward to DJ Greg Caz and a projected art installation called Montagnes by Laurent Pernot.

Building a Better Bushwick Panel (Noon-1:30PM, free)

The Bushwick community is awakening to the very real reality of gentrification in the midst of the Rheingold Brewery rezoning saga. The panel (consisting of Thomas Burr Dodd, the owner of Brooklyn Fire Proof , Jose Lopez, lead organizer of Make the Road New YorkMeryl Meisler, artist and art educator, Daryl-Ann Saunders, artist and activist and Nadine Whitted, district manager of Bushwick’s Community Board 4) will try to answers difficult questions on Saturday at noon. It’s free, so go and bring your local developer with you.
