Pet of the Week: Banana, the Turtle Sometimes Needs to Be Tied to a Balloon

Pet of the week is brought to you by PetFirst Healthcare. Vet bills can be thousands of dollars. You shouldn’t ever be forced to decide between your dog or cat’s health and paying rent on time.  PetFirst allows you to get your dog or cat the care they need without worrying about the expensive cost of veterinary care. Check out their affordable and comprehensive plans here.

In Bushwick, we love our pets. SRSLY, how many people do you know here who have a furry, fishy or scaly best friend? So every week we’re featuring a Bushwick pet to show just how great all of these guys are. If you’d like your pet to be featured, please fill out this form. We’re a little backed up right now with submissions, kind of like a karaoke queue, but please submit your pets info anyway. We really want to feature all these lil’ guys.  Now meet Banana, the turtle!

Name:

Banana

Parent:

Alex

Favorite place in Bushwick to hang out:

Banana really digs the Super Mario Brothers mural on Starr St, he’s a distant cousin of Yoshi. He orders from Bushwick’s Livingroom pretty much every Saturday and Sunday morning, and when it’s sunny out he likes to chill in Maria Hernandez Park. Occasionally you can find him throwing a few back at The Rookery.

Something special about the pet’s personality?

Banana can be a bit anxious, especially if you approach him while he’s sun-bathing. He is very independent and likes to walk around on his own a lot, but since he’s smaller than the palm of a hand, he needs to be tied to a balloon so he doesn’t get lost.
