Public Advocate Jumaane Williams was scheduled to address a Black History Month reception at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture on Wednesday, February 11, according to a public schedule released by his office.
Williams was set to speak at 6:30 p.m. at the Schomburg Center, the Harlem research division of the New York Public Library located at 515 Malcolm X Blvd., the schedule said. The advisory, distributed by the Office of the Public Advocate for planning purposes, listed the remarks as his lone publicly noticed appearance for the day.
The office did not release details about the substance of Williams’ remarks or the reception’s program. The Schomburg Center, named for bibliophile and historian Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, is one of the nation’s leading repositories of materials documenting the history and culture of people of African descent.
