New York Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley made an economic development announcement on Staten Island, where the New York State Department of State announced the completion of the College of Staten Island’s $3.85 million Innovation Hub. The event was previewed in a media advisory issued by the department on March 27, 2026.
The advisory, distributed by the Department of State’s news office, billed the event as an economic development announcement but did not describe the project, name a development site, or specify a dollar figure, time or venue. The department issued the notice twice on the same day under an identical subject line. The Department of State later detailed the project in a same-day release.
According to the Department of State, the project received nearly $1.8 million from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative to transform the 4,139-square-foot space inside the Lighthouse Point development into the Innovation Hub. “We are proud to support projects like the Innovation Hub, which help create opportunities for students, entrepreneurs and the broader community to learn, collaborate and grow,” Mosley said.
Mosley, who assumed office as Secretary of State on May 22, 2024, leads the Department of State, an agency whose portfolio includes the Downtown Revitalization Initiative that funded the project, along with local government services, licensing, code enforcement and community development programs that can bear on economic development efforts in the five boroughs.
