The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation has awarded $142 million in new year-end grants aimed at healthcare access, workforce and equity across New York, according to an outreach email sent on the foundation’s behalf by the public relations firm BerlinRosen. The foundation’s own announcement puts the round at 399 grants totaling more than $142 million to organizations across New York State, spanning Access to Healthcare, Basic Needs, Healthcare Workforce, and Mental & Behavioral Health, and Crain’s New York Business reported the same $142 million total for food access, maternal care and related services amid federal cuts to basic needs.

In the email, BerlinRosen said this year’s giving areas were “especially reflective of cuts to basic needs for New Yorkers and ensuring systems have long-term strength to continue their services.” The firm did not, in that message, name individual grantees, specify award amounts or break down how the $142 million was distributed across the foundation’s funding priorities.

The firm offered to connect reporters with the foundation or with a grantee organization to learn more about the round of giving. As described in the outreach, the grants target underserved New Yorkers and the systems that serve them, with the foundation framing the funding as support for organizations working to sustain services amid reductions to basic-needs programs.

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, an independent grantmaker that funds health and human-services work across New York State, makes year-end awards to nonprofit and community organizations. The foundation did not provide, in the material reviewed, a full list of the recipient organizations or the specific neighborhoods and populations reached by the latest round.
