Starting at 1 p.m. this Saturday, only Brooklyn Heights residents, businesses, and authorized guests will be allowed onto streets marked in red on the city’s restricted-zone map for the Macy’s July 4th fireworks, according to the Brooklyn Eagle. Residents will need to show ID or some other documentation to gain access.
Councilmember Lincoln Restler’s office is offering resident and visitor passes. The Brooklyn Eagle reports you can request one by emailing [email protected] with your name and address.
A few corridors will stay open to pedestrians without any paperwork: Montague Street up to Hicks Street, the south side of Atlantic Avenue from Hicks Street to the BQE, and the north side of Old Fulton Street from Front Street to Water Street. All other red-zone streets require passing a checkpoint, per the Brooklyn Eagle.
No parking will be allowed on any street marked in red. Towing begins the evening of Friday, July 3. Anyone with a car parked in those blocks needs to move it by then.
The ticket lottery for viewing the fireworks from Brooklyn Bridge Park has already closed, the Brooklyn Eagle reported.
