Brooklyn Community Board 4 scheduled its April 2026 committee and full-board meetings around a slate of items that included a presentation on state sentencing reform bills, a tentative Melrose Street zoning amendment and a review of district budget priorities, according to the board’s April newsletter.
The board said its Permits and Licenses committee would meet Tuesday, April 7, at 6 p.m. to review a liquor license and to discuss district needs and budget request priorities. The board said notices identifying the affected establishments would be finalized March 31.
On Thursday, April 9, at 6 p.m., a combined session of the board’s Civic, Public Safety and Religious committee and its Health, Human Service, Senior Citizens and Veterans committee was set to hear a presentation from the Center for Community Alternatives on three sentencing reform bills, the board said. The newsletter identified them as the Earned Time Act (S342/A1085), the Second Look Act (S158/A1283) and the Marvin Mayfield Act (S1209/A1297). The board said the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services would also present on mental health services at that meeting.
The full board was scheduled to hold a public hearing and regular meeting Wednesday, April 15, at 6 p.m., according to the newsletter. The board said the agenda included a presentation on its Good Neighbor Policy and a presentation on a tentative zoning map and text amendment for 132-136 Melrose Street, which it noted would proceed through the city’s Uniform Land Use Review Procedure.
A joint meeting of the board’s Environmental Protection, Transportation and Sanitation committee and its Parks and Recreation committee was set for Monday, April 20, at 6 p.m., with a further discussion of district needs and budget requests, the board said.
The board said committee meetings are held in person at its district office at 1420 Bushwick Ave., Room 370, and full board meetings are held at the Hope Gardens Older Adult Center at 195 Linden St. All meetings currently offer a virtual participation option via Zoom, and registration is required to attend virtually, the board said. It directed residents to its online calendar or its district office for additional information.
