Yesterday’s morning felt very close to waking up to a Xmas tree covered with presents. A beautiful fresh, white bike lane appeared right in front of my house in Ridgewood. And not only Onderdonk Ave was lucky.

This summer, bike lanes were built on “Himrod and Harman streets, from Evergreen to Metropolitan avenues, and along Onderdonk and Woodward avenues, as well as portions of Catalpa and 69th avenues, from Flushing to Cooper avenues, according to data provided by the Department of City Planning,” wrote DNAinfo in February.

The next phase of bike lanes implementing is expected for 2015. Look forward to bike lanes along Eliot Avenue, a large stretch of Metropolitan and Grand avenues, 69th Street and Fresh Pond Road, covering large portions of Middle Village and Maspeth.

At least some good news for local bikers after NYPD has announced a 2-week biker crackdowd seven days ago.

Bike safely!
