These Vintage Stores Pay Zero Rent

Stores facing rising rents forced Beacon’s Closet out of Williamsburg to Greenpoint, and subsequently to a new store opening in Bushwick. One left Bushwick after finding cheaper rent in the East Village. Some are even fighting each other to stay alive. But one business got creative and pays no rent at all, which inspired us to come up with more ways we’d like to see businesses beating the system.
