When Lucia Reed signed up to take over Bushwick Daily’s Instagram account last week, she couldn’t decide what she’d want to focus on. With amazing people and streets to photograph in Bushwick, her options were dauntingly endless. Then it hit her: What does every Bushwick resident hold near and dear to their heart? Duh. A local bodega (or two or three)!
Lucia set out to profile the ‘hood’s many bodegas from different angles. She snapped some beautiful shots of bodega products, spoke to bodega owners and, of course, even caught pics of of bodega cats! You’ve never seen bodegas look quite like this.
This week guest photographer Andrea Martinez will explore Bushwick’s cityscape – its design, geometry, lines and style. Andrea moved to Bushwick just three months ago from Austin, TX where she was born and raised. She recently spent a year abroad, teaching English in Prague and traveling Europe. She fell in love with Bushwick through its arts, music and overall amaznig culture.
