Summer is peaking, and the week(end) doesn’t end this Thursday, dear friends. The neighborhood will be in a festive mood not only on July 4th, enjoying music, rooftops, and strange performances. Here is our selection of the coolest events coming up!

#1 Gigawatts Festival @ Silent Barn (FRI – SAT, 5PM-1:30AM) 1-day pass: $15, 2-day pass: $20

Gigawatts is a cool printed mag dedicated to indie music mostly from our beloved borough. To celebrate their first anniversary, they invited 20 awesome bands to rock it at Silent Barn. Look forward to: Total Slacker, Turnip King, Celestial Shore, Lost Boy ?, Slonk Donkerson, Life Size Maps and more! Party on, Gigawatts!

#2 Celebrate Brooklyn @ Prospect Park (SAT 7PM) free

It’s the Celebrate Brooklyn time of the year again, which means nothing less than a LOT of awesome music at Prospect Park! This Saturday, it’s worth to make a trip to Park Slope because Theophilus London, Les Nubians and Abaraki will play a free park show!

#3 Rooftop Hip Hop Record Release  @ 236 Moore Street Roof (FRI 9PM) free

Hip hop producer Marc Rebillet is celebrating the release of his instrumental EP entitled “Rattlebrain.” Marc is a producer who makes music for rappers in LA, Minneapolis, and here in Brooklyn. Besides lotsa hip hop, there are many other “badass things planned for the evening.” Sounds pretty sweet to us!

#4 Co La @ Silent Barn (SUN)

Electronic collagist Co La is coming to play a show at Silent Barn! Check out his amazing video for “Make It Slay” as premiered at Interview Magazine (fancy!)

#5 Brooklyn Wildlife presents Indiependence Dance Party @ Paper Box (SAT 7PM) donation

Another installment from the series of plain dance insanity created by Brooklyn Wildlife is going down this Saturday at Paper Box. Join the Wildlifers for an indoor and outdoor festivities including photo booth, body paint, burlesque and more.

#6 Circus of Dreams @ Bizarre (WED 9-11PM) free

Matthew Silver, Bushwick’s beloved performer is presenting a show between two realities. This is going down today, so waste no time and run there!

#7 Dr. Lisa Psychotherapy Brunch @ Brooklyn Fire Proof (SUN 1PM)

After this crazy weekend, we will all need it! Dr. Lisa, our beloved advice columnist (currently on a creative hiatus) and a self-proclaimed psychotherapist is bringing a therapist couch and prescription pad to Brooklyn Fire Proof. She promises that everybody will leave happy! We’re coming, Dr. Lisa!!
