Going back to work this week has been tough, but some live music can help raise your spirits.  Here are some of the best shows to check out this week:

Wednesday, January 8th

Shop Talk, Mark Perro and Holly Overton, No Ice at Our Wicked Lady, 7:30 p.m.

Inject some energy into your Wednesday with a mid-winter rooftop show at Our Wicked Lady. Don’t let the elements frighten you, as the venue debuted a brand new retractable roof late last year to keep the rooftop shows going year-round. Wednesday night features the frenetic punk sounds of Shop Talk, the dynamic duo Holly Overton and Mark Perro, and some infectiously catchy tunes from No Ice.

Thursday, January 9th

Taneka Samone, AshtnMrtn at C’mon Everybody, 8 p.m.

Thursday night’s lineup at C’mon Everybody is a stacked double bill of fresh soul and R&B. Brooklyn’s own Taneka Samone, who most recently collaborated with Marcella Precise on a killer track called “ A Dream Away” will be joined by the pristinely soulful sounds of AshtnMrtn.

Friday, January 10th

Yella Belly, Grits, JR Atkins at Elsewhere, 6 p.m.

Alt-country crooners Yella Belly are dropping the follow up to their debut singles “Bad Dog” and “Last Days” with an official release show on Friday night at Elsewhere. Joining them are other Brooklyn-based alt-country standouts Grits and JR Atkins

Saturday, January 11th

Shapes in Calgary, Sotto Voce, Antagonista, Onesie at The Footlight, 9 p.m.

The Footlight is hosting a totally stacked bill on Saturday night featuring an eclectic bill of local acts. The bill includes performances from Antagonista, a smooth sounding local trio, and Shapes of Calgary, a charming indie-pop duo. Onesie, an invigorating power-pop quartet who released quite the stellar debut, Umpteenth, in June of last year and Sotto Voce, the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Ryan Gabos round up the lineup.
