Chipotle is opening a location in Greenpoint later this summer, according to Greenpointers, which reported the news in its June 12 neighborhood newsletter and described it as coming “after years of speculation.”
Greenpointers did not report the exact address or opening date. The newsletter says only “later this summer.” Bushwick Daily has not independently confirmed a storefront, a lease, or a timeline.
Greenpointers included the news in the same roundup as several other North Brooklyn food openings, adding a single line: “And in less gourmet news.” The gourmet part of the list included Sailor & Siren, last summer’s lobster roll pop-up, which Greenpointers reported is getting a permanent home at the corner of Calyer Street and Manhattan Avenue, and a new bakery from a co-founder of the acclaimed San Francisco bakery Tartine, which the newsletter said will open in Williamsburg.
The same edition reported that Kent Avenue bar The Right Bank is getting a revival, and that a battery storage facility, a park, and additional high-rise buildings on that stretch are in early stages.
Greenpoint has gone without a Chipotle long enough that the opening has become a recurring rumor rather than a routine retail item. For now the only confirmed details are the brand, the neighborhood, and the season.
