Supercrown Coffee Roasters on Wilson Avenue in Bushwick closed yesterday.

Supercrown, founded in 2015 by coffee veteran Darleen Scherer, brought progressively-sourced green coffee to Bushwick at its cafe iconized by the 1952 German Probat roaster.

Supercrown sought to become a contender in Bushwick’s competitive coffee scene and earn a place at the table of big neighborhood coffee names such as  Stumptown and Blue Bottle.

“We are a coffee roasting company first,” Darleen told us back in 2015.

While it’s not immediately clear why the roasting company shut down, we do know that it wasn’t because of a health violation, which brings the demise of many eateries and drinkeries in the neighborhood.

So, goodbye to Supercrown — Bushwick’s coffee aficionados will miss ye!
