The much-anticipated long holiday weekend is nearly here, and while many of us are busy planning our backyard barbecues or seeking rooftops for fireworks viewing, select Bushwick galleries will also be holding opening receptions Saturday and Sunday to add to the July 4th festivities

Aah yes, Bushwick summer - a time where

Seize the moment this weekend- the first official full weekend of summer! While some might already be in lazy vacation mode, counting down the days 'til their ticket out of the city, their are several reasons to hold back and stick around Bushwick! This weekend's offerings not only include some incredible performance and video, but there are also some stellar exhibitions that are closing and not to be missed! As my sister likes to tell me on days that I'd rather sleep-in than venture out into the world, "carpe the shit out of your diem!"

This Saturday marks the year's longest day which means we should all take advantage of the long days and warm nights to get out and about this weekend! As is usually the case during these high summer weeks, galleries are getting creative and taking chances, and experimenting with new and exciting curatorial decisions and venues

Tonight, Bushwick will be treated to an exhibition opening of  Initial Deviations, curated by Kara Brooks, at Bushwick’s newest addition to the art scene—Palisades
