The good gigs are a-plenty in Bushwick this week. Check out these hot shows:

Wednesday, Aug. 21

Maya Hawke, Tōth at The Sultan Room, 9 p.m.

You may know Maya Hawke as an actress from her prominent roles in season 3 of "Stranger Things" and most recently, "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood." In addition to film and television, Hawke is also a musician, having just released two folk-inspired songs, “To Love A Boy” and “Stay Open.”

Wednesday night at The Sultan Room is the official release show for these new singles, and Hawke will be joined by Tōth to mark the occasion. Tōth, the solo project of Alex Toth of Rubblebucket, just released his debut solo record, Practice Magic And Seek Professional Help When Necessary.

Thursday, Aug. 22

Peel Dream Magazine, UV-TV, Activity at Elsewhere, 8 p.m.

Peel Dream Magazine continues to grow its fanbase a year after the release of their Stereolab-esque debut album, Modern Meta Psychic, on Slumberland Records. They’ll be in the headlining spot on Thursday night at Elsewhere with support from a new local act, Activity, and UV-TV, who recently settled in New York after calling Gainesville home. The band just released their excellently jittery second LP, Happy, in mid-July.

Friday, Aug. 23

Lost Boy ?

Lost Boy ?, Beeef, The Wilful Boys at The Broadway, 8 p.m.

Lost Boy ?, the long-running project of songwriter Davey Jones, just dropped a brand new single earlier this week called “BIG 13,” which features more of his off-kilter brand of delicious psychedelic-punk.

This show is also being billed as the official release show for Boston garage rockers Beeef, who dropped their brand new record, Bull In The Shade, late last month. Arrive early to hear the intense punk goodness of The Wilful Boys.

Saturday, Aug. 24

Gauche, Public Practice, Dumb Wolves at Alphaville, 8 p.m.

Washington D.C. punks Gauche just released their highly anticipated debut full-length album, A People’s History of Gauche, last month on Merge Records. The was record described as “a collective catharsis of anger, frustration, and trauma through creativity,” so expect that to translate into a high-energy live performance.

They’ll be joined by two magnificent local acts, four-piece Public Practice, who are working on the follow up to their well-received 2018 debut EP, Distance Is A Mirror, and GP Stripes outfit Dumb Wolves.
