On August 1, the corner of Broadway and Gates Avenue got a new coffee shop to complement the selection of already useful shops and services on that stretch of the border between Bushwick and Bed-Stuy.
Owners, Agnieszka and John Palladino, are a former jewelry designer and gemologist who wanted to work in a field which required daily customer interaction. And they got it. Even though the shop has only been open for a week, the pair already have regulars.
The coffee shop serves local Devocion Coffee for its freshness and has a limited but tasty selection of light bites in the form of sandwiches and bagels. What isn’t made in house comes from Balthazar. Prices are not unreasonable for a coffee. A small drip will cost you $2.50.
Extended hours, too, are great for night owls who like to have a cup of joe at around the same time most people are shuffling off to bed. The cafe does not close until 9 p.m., making it a rarity in a sea of coffee spots which close at 6 or 7 p.m.
Future plans include an expanded evening menu featuring Italian favorites such as burrata and wine to provide another type of space for local residents to enjoy.
Hurry in and snag a window seat before everyone else gets there.
