As summer ends, loads of New Yorkers are mentally preparing for the cooler months approaching. Every opportunity to spend your days in the sunny streets of the city should not be taken lightly. Outdoor markets and festivals are highlights of warm weather season. North Brooklyn is no stranger to a solid food fest. There’s something about various good eats curated into one event that moves crowds. The annual Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint is no exception.

Expect a block party-style celebration, with live music, demonstrations and more.

This year there are many businesses from all over the borough with Northern Brooklyn establishments making a significant mark on the food festival. Some restaurants you might recognize are apart of the mix, including: The Meatball Shop, Brooklyn Winery, Claudia’s, Nitehawk, Lighthouse, Brooklyn Crafted and so many more.

This year’s Taste will be the 10th anniversary of this event, so it’s sure to be special. Proceeds from this year’s festival  goes toward raising funds to round out the budget for the new Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center.

Some restaurants like Lighthouse have been a part of the annual celebration since day one. “We have been a part of Taste from the first year. We love being part of the community and seeing everyone every year,” said Naama Tamir, co-owner of the Lighthouse. Community is a big reason why businesses and locals continue to come out for events like this.

Although the prices seem a little steep ($50 for general admission and $100 for VIP access), each ticket gets you a fair amount of good eats and drinks. The general admission ticket scores you eight tastings and unlimited drinks, while the VIP access guarantees unlimited food and drink helpings, early access to the event, and more.

As for food and drinks to look out for, Brooklyn Crafted is taking citrus to a whole new level. “The Mango Calamansi-ade is one of our most unique flavors. Hailing from Southeast Asia, calamansi offers a distinct, citrus flavor that is balanced out by the tropical, sweet personality of mango,” Marcia Hu, Marketing Manager of Brooklyn Crafted told Bushwick Daily. As for Lighthouse, “We will be serving our amazing house made sourdough with mezze,” said Tamir.

Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint is happening on September 15 at East River State Park. To attend the event and try treats from over 30 businesses participating, check out the official website. Get tickets here.
