Evil Twin Brewing continues to expand its mini-empire with a new beer garden, slated to open in August. The beer garden will exclusively serve beers produced at the 1616 George Street brewery, and will deliver a singular Evil Twin experience via a beautiful, plant-filled greenhouse with an adjoining outdoor seating area.

Corey Gargiulo, General Manager at Evil Twin, considers the beer garden an “opportunity to elevate the experience of what a taproom is.” He hopes the beer garden will be an “overall experience” instead of a place to drink the same Evil Twin beers available for retail elsewhere.

“We want to make sure that we have all of these ways to kind of support this awesome beer that we’re making,” Gargiulo said.

When Evil Twin opened its brick-and-mortar brewery in fall 2018, it marked a new chapter in the formerly nomadic brewing company’s life. Before landing in their Ridgewood spot, the company was producing beer through contracts with other breweries. Now that they’ve found a permanent home, they’ve set out to create a drinking experience that will help further solidify their place in the New York craft beer landscape. All beers available to drink in the space and to purchase in the on-site retail shop are brewed right next door.

Back in January, Evil Twin opened a pop-up taproom at Nowadays, offering three newly released beers called “ET Found Home,” “Falco,” and “Your Mom Goes to College.” As the permanent taproom and beer garden were still undergoing construction, the pop-up was a temporary solution that Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergso, Evil Twin’s founder, hoped would offer a similar experience.

With the beer garden’s official opening on the horizon, beer lovers and the Ridgewood-Bushwick community at large can start gearing up for a true Evil Twin drinking experience. The greenhouse will serve as a permanent taproom, and will provide a “bright, open space” for people to hang out in, Gargiulo said. There will also be plenty of seating in the adjacent courtyard. To soak up all the fresh beer, drinkers can look forward to a rotating cast of food trucks as well as some bar snacks, including a soon-to-be-released Evil Twin-brand jerky. The beers themselves will be poured exclusively from 20 draft lines, and will vary in size based on style and alcohol content.
