Get Your Freak On at Tilt, East Williamsburg's New Dance Spot — Bars on Bushwick Daily

Get Your Freak On at Tilt, East Williamsburg's New Dance Spot

The masterminds that brought us East Village's Lit Lounge have opened a new dance bar underneath the McKibbin Lofts.

From the outside, Tilt looks like a standard Bushwick coffee shop. But behind a chalkboard door covered in band stickers and the day's coffee specials, a narrow wooden stairwell leads to a dance floor/bar space that one could only describe as lit.

Coincidentally, the owners of Lit Lounge, the East Village staple that closed its doors in 2015, teamed up with the owners of Trash Bar to bring us an artsy, dancy, disco lovechild called Tilt.

Tilt hosts daily dance parties, boasts an all-star lineup of fantastic local DJs, go-go dancers, and drag queen tattoo artists. You just can't make this stuff up. Oh, and Tilt's karaoke Sundays get pretty rowdy, according to what I heard from Kings of Karaoke founder Jason Gersch.

This month, Tilt plans to change its look up a little bit, opting to ditch its upstairs coffee shop in favor of a full bar to complement their downstairs offerings. Also, starting Sunday, Feb. 26, Tilt will host a monthly reading series from The Tusk, an online magazine featuring humor and culture essays. Karaoke will follow, of course.

Check out Tilt's Facebook page for a list of events, and visit in person at 248 McKibbin St. for all your partying needs. See you there!
