March brings a diverse lineup of comedy shows and open mics to Bushwick, all free to enjoy. Get ready for some radical laughter at these inclusive hangs!


1. Stacy’s: She Swallowed Dirt By Accident 

At Rebecca’s on March 7 at 8 p.m.

This slightly dark comedy show is hosted by the dynamic trio comprised of Caroline Doyle, Marissa Goldman, and Charlie Bardey. Every month their fictional character Stacy experiences different events sometimes cool and sometimes bad. Previous months have included events like Stacy: She’s Gonna Die?, Stacy: We’re Chasing Her and finally this month Stacy will discover she has swallowed dirt by accident. Come join the weird chronicles of Stacy!


2. DMXX Hip-Hop Improv

At 26 Starr St, Brooklyn, NY 11221 March 9 at 6:30 p.m. 

DMXX is a badass collective of hip-hop improvisers based in New York City. This March they are dropping the mic for an incredible showcase and fundraiser featuring the multi-talented ladies of DMXX. Hoping to raise funds to make it to Femimproviser Improv Festival in San Francisco, they have promised to put on the greatest hip-hop show in history! The team consists of Roxie Wilson, Marissa Stuart, Hannah Cassius, Alana Johnson, Alli Guerra, and Kristina Stasi. Snacks will be provided! Light refreshments will be provided (BYOB is encouraged)! Kickass talent will be provided! There is a $15 suggested donation which audiences can venmo to @DMXXImprov.


3. 2 Hilarious with Jimmy and Carly

At Easy Lovers on March 10 at 7 p.m.

This monthly standup comedy show is hosted by two comedians Carly Montag and Jimmy HVD who are “2 Hilarious.” Each show provides audiences with the pleasure of witnessing the comedic duo and brings you the funniest, wittiest, sexiest comedians New York City has to offer. Located at Easy Lovers, your new neighborhood hang, with one free beer with a purchase of their yummy sliders!


4.  Fun House 

At Pete’s Candy Store on March 13 at 10 p.m.

Complimentary hosts Gabe Pacheco and Sameer Naseem invite audiences to this intimate, weekly show in one of the last holdouts of hip Williamsburg, Pete’s Candy Store. An oasis in a desert of gentrifying condos and genteel comedy shows. Funhouse is the spot to see unsigned hype, touring comics, international drop-ins, and meet the locals. Go check out the diverse array of talent presented by the genial, laid-back hosts.


5. Hail Mary: Our Queer Saints

At Footlight Bar on March 12 at 7 p.m.

Hail Mary: Our Queer Saints is a comedy show featuring some of New York City’s most vital queer voices. It is The Kennedy Center Honors for divas and deviants. At each show comedians, writers, and performers nominate their favorite queer icon for sainthood in order to build a new canon of glorified souls and perhaps transcend their earthly bodies! Hosted by Tim Kov and David Perez.


6. Sounds Great!

At Our Wicked Lady on March 12 at 8 p.m.

Best buds Nora Jefferies and Paige Smith Hogan host this fun-filled event giving the audience a brief rundown of everything they encountered this month that “Sounds Great” in all the ways that are genuinely fantastic, all the ways that are genuinely horrific, and everything in between. The two comediennes are adamant about raising the voices of marginalized performers and host an inclusive open mic called “Turtleneck Open Mic” at Idlewild in Bushwick. 7. Backyard Show’s Water Breaks!!

At Pine Box Rock Shop on March 9 at 8:30 p.m.

Co-hosted and produced by longtime comedians, friends, and roommates Leanne Velednitsky and Rebecca Weiser, Backyard Show is a free variety show about getting cozy with New York City’s most famous comedians, celebrities, and inanimate objects!!! After having a run for nine months the duo has announced they are finally giving birth to a baby also know as their beloved show. They encourage everyone to dress in onesies as they will be cradled for 10 seconds to instill trust. Go join the Motherly fun!
