Bushwick’s Dromedary Bar Is Hosting a Full Day of “Warriors” Themed Fun—Come Out to Plaaaaay!

Time to break out your Warriors cosplay, Bushwick!

Dromedary Bar (266 Irving Avenue) has curated the perfect Sunday fun day for lovers of the 1979 cult classic film The Warriors. On Sunday, August 14th starting at 1 p.m., the bar is hosting a full afternoon of programming celebrating the film.

Dromedary owner Michael Lombardozzi grew up near Coney Island and has been watching the film since high school. “The film always struck a chord with me and my friends, seeing as it took place near where we lived.”

The bevy of events Lombardozzi has lined up perfectly demonstrate his fondness for the film. Attendees can start off their day with a a Furies face paint job by artist Tammy Cedar, which is perfect for a photo opportunity—if you do this or are already dressed up as a Fury yourself, post it to social media with #dromedarybar and you’ll get a free beer!

Other features of the event are a pop-up kitchen with delicious eats prepared by chefs Steve Popolizio and Mike Viola; a video game competition courtesy of Gotham City Games; a CCD NYC art prints inspired by the movie, a presentation hosted by pop culture expert Cummins, and finally, a  screening of “The Warriors.”

Participants in a house raffle ($5/ticket or 20$/5 tickets) can score a sweet stash of Warriors-themed collectibles, including signed copies of all the art prints, a Blu-Ray copy of the movie, a signed & framed cast poster (signed by two actual Warriors!), all the buttons, and lots of other fun stuff.

Coney Island Brewery is sponsoring the event, and Dromedary Bar will have free samples of the local brew all day.

Neighborhood bars Talon, Three Diamond Door, and Starliner will pay homage and celebrate The Warriors, too: each bar will offer a different Coney Island beer on Sunday as part of a neighborhood bar crawl where the last stop is Dromedary Bar for the movie— “Sort of like in the movie, where they had to get themselves back home to Coney Island,” notes Lombardozzi.

“We are pretty much playing everything loose, as we want it to feel like a day on the boardwalk,” says Lombardozzi.

With the exception of the food, drinks (except, you know, those free Coney Island beer samplings), and art prints for sale, everything is free.

So on this Sunday at Dromedary Bar, come out to play-i-ay!
