A new event organized by Bushwick gallerists will extend gallery hours on one Friday night each summer month to give residents and art enthusiasts a chance to stroll through Bushwick and Ridgewood to discover new art.

The late night series, called Hot Summer Nights, will take place at galleries throughout the neighborhood, who will keep their doors open until 9pm on June 17th (next month’s date is July 15th).

Many local galleries keep limited hours, which sometimes makes it difficult to see the amazing work our creative neighbors toil over day in and day out in countless studio spaces. Local events such as Bushwick Open Studios and the Bushwick Collective Block Party all share the common goal of bridging the gap between artists and the public.

Stephanie Theodore of Theodore:Art tells Bushwick Daily that during the inaugural Hot Summer Nights event on May 20th, the gallery spaces at 56 Bogart were packed. Galleries participating in the final two nights include Underdonk, Christopher Stout Gallery, Microscope Gallery, and Los Ojos, and a complete list of participating galleries can be found at bushwickgalleries.com.

See you out in the streets all summer, art lovers.
