Two one-bedroom apartments at 1052 Willoughby Avenue in Bushwick are available through an NYC Housing Connect lottery at $2,139 a month, and applications close Thursday, October 1.
The apartments are set aside for households earning 80 percent of the area median income. A one-person household must earn $78,960 to $95,040 a year, a two-person household $78,960 to $108,560 and a three-person household $78,960 to $122,160, according to the listing. Households of one to three people can apply. The listing notes that the minimum income may not apply to applicants with Section 8 vouchers or other rental subsidies.
Applications are submitted online through NYC Housing Connect, the city’s affordable-housing portal, and there are no deposits or application fees, according to the listing.
The apartments have hardwood floors, split-system heating and air conditioning, an intercom entry system and security cameras, and some third-floor units have private patios or balconies, the listing says. One small pet up to 50 pounds is allowed per apartment, with a refundable $300 pet deposit that may be required. Tenants pay for electricity, which covers the electric heat and stove; hot water is included in the rent.
The building has eight apartments, and two are being offered in the lottery. It is expected to receive a property tax exemption through the city’s 485-x incentive program, according to the listing. Applicants’ assets are capped at $135,680, according to the listing.
The J, M and Z trains stop at Myrtle Avenue and nearby stations, the L at DeKalb Avenue, Jefferson Street and Morgan Avenue, and the G at Myrtle-Willoughby Avenues, according to the listing.
In August, Bushwick Daily reported on a city lottery selling Bushwick one-bedrooms for $219,500.
Two other Brooklyn lotteries are open on Housing Connect: 2905 West 17th Street in Coney Island, which closes September 29, and 815 Kings Highway, which closes October 13.
