? Monday: Comedy at the cape house
9-10:30 p.m. at the Cape House (basement), 2 Knickerbocker Ave.
Get that mope out of Monday with a comedy show. The lineup includes comics who have appeared on Comedy Central, Viceland, and other acclaimed stand-up circuits. Tickets cost $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
?️ Tuesday: Get your artwork critiqued
6:30-8:30 p.m. at Paradise Palase, 1263 Bushwick Ave.
Any artist is welcome to sign up to show work at this even, and organizers encourage anyone else to show up and critique work from local artists. Entry costs $5. There are some rules about the kinds of artwork you can bring, so check out the link above for the details.
? Thursday: Free concert for Bushwick residents
8-9 p.m. at MISE-EN_PLACE, 678 Hart St.
Amalgama presents “Moon, Line, Shadow,” a multidisciplinary performance exploring the overlaps and divergences between different artistic languages and traditions. This intimate performance is an improvisatory dialogue between Arnold Schoenberg’s seminal work “Pierrot Lunaire” Amalgama’s percussionist, Caitlin Cawley. This moonlit meeting also showcases an art installation created specifically for the event.
? Saturday: Community paint fest
11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at The School of Integrated Learning, 1224 Park Pl., Brooklyn
The NYC Mural Arts Project is hosting a Community Paint Fest that’s free and open to the public. There will be live music, face painting, and enough paintbrushes to go around. People living with mental illness and community members designed the mural as part of the NYC Health Department’s effort to increase awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma around mental illness. The final mural will go up in the neighborhood this summer.
? Hot Rabbit’s Annual gay prom at Lot 45
10 p.m.-4 a.m. at Lot 45, 411 Troutman St.
This is the big gay prom that you’ve always wanted. Come stag or grab a corsage for your date; dress to the nines and party like it’s 1999. Semi-formal wear encouraged but not required.
