A huge, mixed-income apartment building is coming to Bushwick.
Renderings were recently released for 1601 DeKalb, a $70.5 million development project from the Camber Property Group (CPG) that is slated for completion in 2022.
The nine-story building will be built on top of a current parking lot that is a block from the DeKalb Avenue station and across the street from Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
Of the building’s 122 units, a quarter of them (31) will be affordable housing, YIMBY reported. Just how affordable, we don’t yet know; the project is currently in pre-development while CPG awaits an amendment to the location’s zoning law, which doesn’t currently allow residential building, the report said.
Aufgang Architects, the firm behind 83 Bushwick Pl. in East Williamsburg, are doing the design. Renderings suggest that the 125,252-square-foot building will have some of the latest bells and whistles: verdant rooftop spaces; large, aluminum-framed windows; balconies in some of the apartments; and a parking garage below the building.
